Guidelines for Administration of Zometa (Zoledronic Acid)

  1. Lab work which included a comprehensive metabolic panel will be done every 3 months to monitor kidney function.
  2. Patient undergoing every 3 week chemotherapy programs will receive Zometa infusions every 3 weeks.
  3. Patients undergoing weekly chemotherapy programs will receive Zometa infusions every 4 weeks.
  4. Patients with stable bone disease on long term therapy (> 6 months) will receive Zometa less often than every 4 weeks at the discretion of their medical oncologist.
  5. Patients undergoing Zometa infusions for the management of osteoporosis will receive Zometa infusions once yearly.
