Tour de Pink 2006
The 2006 Tour de Pink was held Sunday, September 10th, 2006 at Prairie View A&M University in Hempstead, Texas. The Tour de Pink is an annual fund raising event with proceeds going to the Pink Ribbons Project, a program set up to fight breast cancer through awareness and education programs and the support of proper screening for the medically underserved. It also funds research initiatives.
The Pink Ribbons Project makes a big difference in the lives of our patients at the Smith Breast Center, as their focus is entirely on local woman. Last year, some of the proceeds from the Tour de Pink 2005 went toward purchasing a new mammography machine for Ben Taub Breast Oncology Clinic.
The Tour was an incredible success. More than 1,200 riders signed up to ride 12 to 100 miles raising more than this year's goal of $200,000 in donations. There were 65 riders on the Baylor College of Medicine team including 13 riders participating from the Smith Breast Center. The BCM team achieved over $20,000 in donations with nearly $12,000 in donations raised by Toni Sinclair, senior research coordinator and the Breast Care Clinic.
Toni Sinclair named Top Fundraiser for the 2006 Tour de Pink
